Rosslyn Chapel Comes Alive
WHAT do the incredible carvings within the grey walls of Rosslyn Chapel really mean? How have the Knights Templar and Masons played a role in the chapel and the family who built the spectacular 15th-century structure right here in Scotland?
These questions and more will be examined in a special five-part video podcast series on Rosslyn Chapel, presented exclusively by Heritage & Culture, the popular website on all things Scottish from scotsman.com.
Join us next week when we take you on a visual tour through the chapel to learn more about the myths and the mysteries. Diane Maclean will present a clear picture on the many issues surrounding this amazing house of worship near Edinburgh.
The podcast follows our successful launch in February of Close Encounters, a glimpse into the dark secrets that lay behind the many narrow lanes - or closes - in the Scottish capital. This marked the first known video podcast by any British newspaper website and was downloaded - either onto a computer or a video iTune player - more than 50,000 times in the first month.
To view next week's podcasts - a new one will be presented each day, Monday through Friday - all you have to do is sign up to receive a feed direct to your computer. (What is podcasting? See our FAQs here.)
In addition to the video podcasts, we will be offering a chance to attend a workshop near Roslin, the small village home to Rosslyn Chapel. The subject of the one-day workshop: "In Search of the Grail". Join us next week to find out how you can take part.
You can also read how The Scotsman's newspaper covered stories about Rosslyn Chapel in the 19th century, thanks to free excerpts from our Digital Archive.
